Someone with virtually any continual discomfort must read Mind Body Prescription by Dr John Sarno MD. Review all of the opinions on Amazon. I have got 3 bulging discs in my lumbar and reading through Dr Sarno saved my life. Pain free, no surgical treatments.

The biggest trick is slow and small. I can be a klutz too and I always find there's haste to blame :) Take a simple movement, like tapping your finger on a table. Repeat it. Then make it more gentle. Now make it so gentle that you can start, stop and reverse the movement at any point along it. Once you get that, take it to any and all new movements you find yourself up against (especially those to confront pain or injury) and you will do great!

That's a great tip to remember if and when the time comes that I'll experience ligament pain. That can be tricky though, I'm such a klutz that if ever I practice the movement through painless excercise that you suggested, I might accidentally do it wrong.

Yes, to get pain free movement, you need to teach your brain that movement is NOT painful.

Moving into pain associates movement with pain.

Seems simple I know, but as you have shown it works!

Moral of the story--don't move into pain
